Natuculture System at Neal Middle School, Durham North Carolina 2012*

In partnership with a team from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University (NC A&T) we rehabilitated a former parcel of turf grass and construction debris with limited use-value into an ecologically complex system. 

Alongside NC A & T’s Natuculture team, Neal Middle School students and teachers researched and learned about food production, ways to foster and improve local soil, water, and air quality, and how to increase local biodiversity. The Natuculture  system at Neal Middle School also introduced students to programs of study in agriculture and in environmental sciences that could lead to exciting career opportunities within the field of agriculture.
